The first Robotics CRC competition took place in 2001. Since then seventy schools have been involved.

The competition prides itself on being affordable and student oriented compared to other robotics competitions. There are multiple disciplines involved like programming, acting, set design and, of course, building robots.

The event takes place over the course of four days during which teams will be evaluated on their robots, their website, their video, their kiosk and their programming skills. The main part of the Robotics CRC competition is obviously the robot tournament where teams compete to win the year’s game.

The kiosks, the websites and the videos will be ranked according to predetermined criteria. Finally, the programming task will ask students to put their programming skills to use by solving problems.

Robotics CRC also offers a Junior competition where elementary school students build robots with LEGO Mindstorm. Fair play is very important to the Robotics CRC team, which is why it is present through every aspect of the competition. Students present their work to the judges themselves and can learn by receiving feedback and advice.
